Dorset culture

Dorset gouged holes

Dorset: An unusual characteristic of Dorset culture which makes its artifacts distinguishable from those of the preceding ASTt peoples and from those of the later Thule people is the fact that the Dorset always created perforations in their artifacts by gouging, producing elongated holes. The earlier and later cultures used the bow drill, producing circular holes.
