Finding and Excavating Sites

A conservator at work

Fieldwork: Apart from artifacts made of stone, most of the artifacts recovered at Arctic sites require careful treatment to ensure that they do not deteriorate. Ideally the field crew will include a trained conservator who can begin this process immediately, but whose work will continue for many months after the end of the excavation.
