Tungatsivvik

part of the crew and gear arriving

At the same time as we were investigating the Thule culture remains at Tungatsivvik, we were also investigating the use of the site by earlier peoples. The discovery of a small isolated Arctic Small Tool tradition (Pre-Dorset culture) component at the Tungatsivvik site came about by observing on the surface of the ground a few flakes from the manufacture of stone tools. In this photo they are marked by yellow flagging tape and our initial excavation unit is marked by orange flagging tape and string.
