The Sally Weaver Scholarship Award

A tuition award commemorates the accomplishments of Sally Weaver. During her 27 years as a member of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Waterloo, Sally Weaver achieved international recognition as a scholar in applied anthropology. She had a lifetime commitment to excellence in research and teaching and an abiding determination to use her knowledge to promote justice and recognition for native peoples. Sally Weaver's "archives and working library" are now part of the the UW library.

The award is open to scholarship-eligible University of Waterloo graduate students in the M.A. program in Public Issues Anthropology. Selection is to be based on a written statement outlining the candidate's commitment to Anthropology and plans related to developing a career in Anthropology exemplifying the interests and concerns of Sally Weaver. If the student is studying part-time an explanation of why full-time study is not possible is required.
